This martial art is being very looked for and accepted currently for the aged population, in view of profit of physical conditioning, force, balance and flexibility, that are component of the physical aptitude that they go to help to develop posturais habits and to assist in the reinforcement of the musculatura, preventing osteoporose, as well as the risks of falls, generating a welfare general and bigger autonomy in its day-day. Then, this work had for objective to show through a bibliographical revision the benefits that the practical one of the Karat can cause in individuals of the Third Age. METHODOLOGY For this revision of literature had prioritized? if the books searched in the library of the UESB – southwestern State University of the Bahia, Jequi Campus, as well as some magazines of the rea of greets as: Magazine, Physical Activity and Health and site of search of free and gratuitous access: Saudetotal, Maturity, Scielo and Google Acadmco. As search strategy, one used the following terms: Physical activity in the Third age, Benefits of the Karat for the Aged ones, History of the Kart. Searching still publications that presented given referring to the subject in question.

AGED AND PRACTICAL OF the KARAT For many the Third Age represents a fall in the professional and particular tasks of the life, without speaking of the natural process of the aging, that develops a feeling of uselessness and a lack of interest for the activities of the daily one.
